PBIS & School Pledge

Positive Behavior Interventions and Support

This year all schools in Wilkes County are implementing a program to recognize and reward good school behavior. PBIS is a system developed by a school to improve student behavior. It is used with all students, across all school environments (classrooms, cafeteria, hallways, restrooms, bus) to help schools create a positive and effective learning environment. Teachers are using classroom rewards along with monthly and quarterly school wide rewards to insure a positive school environment for MPES. Using the acronym HAWK, a matrix of expectations for each area has been developed. We expect the students at MPES to:

H - Have Respect
A - Act Responsibly
W - Work Hard
K - Keep Safe

Large posters are displayed throughout the school to remind students of the school wide expectations for behavior. When students meet these expectations, the staff will note their success with positive reinforcement.
